Preference Error - Display

Greetings!

There are similar posts regarding this issue, but they refer to the preference pane. This appears(?) to be different.

I have four monitors connected, they are all working fine... I was hoping to find a way to force FCPX to load the Viewer window on a specific screen, when I encountered this error.

Can I just trash "com.apple.windowserver.displays.plist" and try again?

Monterey 12.2

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Did you try just restarting your mac?

If you did and the issue persists then restarting in Safe Mode as suggested is a good idea.

Still the same name?

Indeed deleting the plist file does not hurt; restart and see if it helps.

Once you get the displays pane to work again, I suggest you post the question about putting the viewer on a specific display in the Final Cut Pro forum. This comes up from time to time and I can give the answer - but it does involve working with the displays pane.

Try booting to Safe Mode. That boot up takes minutes and clears caches and other things that may resolve your problem.

A lot of times just boot to Safe Mode followed by normal boot resolves problems.
