iPad System Data Storage sudden increase for 6GB to 50.78 GB

Recent iPad System Data storage went from 6.0 GB to 50.78 GB in a single day. I did a hard reset (Power + Home button) and this helped for a day. Now System Data Storage is over 60 GB. iPad version 15.4.1 with IOS storage at 7.8 GB. Cleared Safari cache and this did not help. None of the Apps are consuming any abnormal storage. All the excessive storage is shown as system data files.

This is not a normal change and maybe related to the latest iPad update to 15.4.1. Any suggestions?

Give Apple Some Feedback:

Software updates may play a big rule in all of the caches formed, so does lots of other activities. Having an "old" iPad, may more may not pay a role. The link there is for reference, though not 100% relevant.. "Other" (AKA "System Data" will increase in an instant, and unfortunately, there is no way to know why, nor when it increased.

So, Recommend this to Apple:

Do your part: Provide them with feedback on this. They may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they received on this, the more they will know what their customers prefer, and what to include with products to come.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPad - Apple
  2. Comment: that you want an update to manage this.
  3. Select: "Feature Request" for the "Feedback Type"
  4. Proceed from there aw necessary

Ridding of "System Data" (Formerly Called "Other"):

Back up your iPad, and then restore your iPad form a backup. For reference, refer to my User Tip:  Clear Other storage on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

This issue here and as seen by many others is a sudden huge increase in system data store, in my case went from 18 GB to 80 GB. This is not an App issue, this is an Apple software defect.

Asking everyone to wipe their iPad and start from beginning does not address the fundamental issue which is IOS defect. I believe having the ability degrade to a previous software update maybe more helpful
