I followed the instructions above, but the initialization fails with an error in the last step.

My daughter is using XR, and she suddenly got an error saying that the password does not match, so I looked for a way to recover it. I was told that I had to initialize it, so I followed the instructions, but an error occurs at the end and the initialization keeps failing.

Without knowing what error code you got it is hard to give you a specific answer.

My general advice would be if it fails if you try with a different cable and a different computer the phone is likely the reason it fails, if the phone is the reason it fails it will need service:
