When unlocked, my Iphone XR is tapping on buttons on its own at a fast paste and I'm not sure how to resolve it. I've tried to restart the system, removed my phone case and screen protector, and I've cleaned the surface of my phone. I don't know what to do now; should I get it fixed somewhere?

You should keep it locked when not in use.
Restarting and cleaning the surface is not the solution for this.
