My phone doesn't show "Leave this Conversation" so how do I remove myself from a group text with android and iphone users?

I have a very sensitive family matter in a group conversation and there is no way to leave it. It remains on top at all times and it's extremely painful. There is no "leave this conversation" option. So how do I get off this chat? I asked the person who added me and they can't do it either.

Please help! It's almost cruel at this point to have this showing all the time.

If it's a mixed group of people using SMS and iMessage, you will need to ask people in the group to start a new group that doesn't include you.

You can also mute notifications for just that thread.

is it safe from Apple to hit the red notification at the bottom that says “leave the conversation”?

That option is only available if everyone in the thread is using iMessage.

If I hit that on an obvious phishing group text does it give that sender access to me at all?

No.
