Bluetooth Shortcut on Home Screen?

On my Nokia N97 I can easily add a shortcut to the Bluetooth settings on my home screen to toggle BT on/off. I cannot find how to do this with my iPhone 4.This would really make things easier for me especially as I have to manually connect with my Mazda RX-8 evey time I drive.

How can I do this?

iMac 24-inch, Mac OS X (10.6.4), iMac, iPhone 4, iPod nano

Well, wait a minute. Remember Ockham’s Razor? The simplest explanation is that they just fixed a bug in their browser and of course that breaks the functionality of something that exploited that bug to, well, do something nice. They probably knew it would break it too, but I don’t think they hated the nice thing. Yes, of course I’m all for having shortcuts on my home screen for settings. This took away my shortcuts, but I actually think it’s good to shore up what could have been an exploit in their mobile browser. I’m not an expert on security, and I hope they really do make shortcuts a feature in the future (you can make great usability improvements by looking at the ways people break your product to get what they want), but I just can’t believe that it was malicious without a little more evidence. Software development would be a ludicrous process if you had to address every bug as though it was a possible feature and build a new feature around it. I’m sad that the shortcuts are gone, but I can’t blame them for it. 😟

If you don't turn bluetooth off and on. Read no further. (include airplane and call forwarding).

Simple quick shortcuts to bluetooth are most useful to people who have more than 1 iphone.

e.g. - 1 car - 1 car kit - 1 keyboard - but want to change from iPhoneA to iPhoneB whilst on 'call hold'.

There are functions that work readily. If you have an Iphone and 1 ipad - and 1 Keyboard - you want to be able to disable/enable as quickly as possible.

It is a valid request. A valid concern for usability.

If this was a customisable option, - then it would not be an issue for anyone. Options are good things.

And no - an option like this would not create and overhead.

thx

Completely agree - a very valid concern for usability. In my case, the Bluetooth interferes with baby monitors on in the house. So every time I come home in car, 4 steps to switch off , 4 steps to switch back on when leaving the house. Cant even go back to 5.0 after updating to 5.1 to use a shortcut app that I have paid for and can no longer use on 5.1. I really hope Apple can add this feature in future updates.

I think that is a great idea and question to apple. What about making a shortcut on the home screen for power profiles that you can create? I know that if I stream music using the 3G and use Bluetooth head set that the battery dies in about 8 hrs or less. I turn off the 3G and leave on the Wifi when I am at work so battery lasts since I don't get cell phone reception in my building and it helps greatly. The manual fetching of email was also a big difference in battery live versus push!
