Mail filtering options not working

In Mac Mail I can no longer filter emails in my inbox other than by 'unread'. There used to be a 'filter by' option and then I could choose 'attachment' 'unread' 'date' etc ...... now, all I have is the filter symbol and the only option seems to be 'unread'.

This happened after I upgraded to Monterey version 12.3.1 two weeks ago

Click and hold the filter icon or Command L or Mail Menu > View > Filter.
