iPhone scam

My iPhone 13 Pro has a black screen with a msg saying my phone has been hacked. This is supposedly sent from Apple and asks me to download an app to fix it. Did not do that but am wondering how bad this might be and how to fix it and protect my other devices

It was not sent from Apple; it was a scam, and it did no real harm to your phone. Just force-restart the phone:

  • Press and quickly release VOLUME UP
  • Press and quickly release VOLUME DOWN
  • Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears (15-30 seconds), ignoring "slide to power off" if it appears

The operative word here is QUICKLY; and try it a couple of times, the timing is a little tricky.

And don’t visit websites that host scams.
