Why is system data taking up so much space?

A few days ago i saw that my storage was almost full, and that almost ALL of my storage was being taken up by system data. I’ve tried deleting cache of my apps and several other things yet, none of the methods seem to work. can anyone help me with this issue? Do i need to take it to apple to get looked at? please help i’m at a loss

Either

  1. It is genuine non categorised data from a rampant gaming app or
  2. It is bogus Other data

Backup, restore to factory, then restore from backup:-


If you can import your media to Photos or iTunes in a computer and copy important documents to a cloud server it will give you some resilience in case the restore from backup fails, or you need to ditch the backup and start as new.
