dvd player usb not visible

iMac with thunderbolt and converter sitcom for usb connections does not recognize dvd player model A1379. Can anyone out there help me? Will be appreciated... salute, Toos

LG Ultra Slim DVD drive not working with iMac 21.5" I had the same trouble as some other folks on this issue. Sorry if this is obvious but, 2 things: 1) Make sure you use the cable that came with the drive - others may seem to fit with drive, but may not work. 2) Nothing shows up on the desktop until you insert a disc.

Are there DVD/CD readers to fit the MacBook Pro 16 inch Ventura? My MacBook Pro requires an external hard drive to use cd/dvd. My ex.harddrive I bought for my previous MacBP says it needs power when I hook it up to the accessary that supposedly converts the available drives into USB drives. What is wrong with this picture? Will any port converter provide power to my cd writer/reader? Are there DVD/CD readers to fit the MacBook Pro 16 inch Ventura? Sue [Re-Titled by Moderator]

thank you for the quick reply. It is not possible to connect the dvd player (usb) directly to the imac (imac has a thunderbolt connection) I put a Sitecomm hub between the 2, but is is not working.that is how it is. other connections (iphone, ipad) do work. The Nonda you suggest, works the same I guess

Only difference between the Sitcomm Hub is the Chip Set in the Hub and since Monterey - Chip Set becomes a deciding factor as to if it works or not.

In this case - for the moment it appears it does not

The chip set in the hub or adapter may or may not work.

I know from personal experience the Normad does work on my M1 Mac Mini

Does the player appear in About This Mac>Overview>System Report>Hardware USB?

WIthout a disk in the drive it will NOT show in Finder or on your desktop.
