Drag and drop webpage to bookmarks folder

Drag and drop is a natural gesture within MacOS, so when using Safari why can't I drag a URL from the address bar to a bookmarks folder in the tool or side bars? I can drag to the toolbar or sidebar but not a folder within. Mouse/keyboard, no trackpad, if it matters.

Drag and Drop the URL in Safari is gone... kind of... can we have it back somehow? Ok, so for years, I used to drag and drop interesting urls straight from the address bar to my bookmark folders, which are usually displayed in the side bar. But in the recent Safari version this is not possible - or not fully. Funny, it only works like it used to when you have ONE tab opened. Then, the site icon (first element of the address bar) remains intact, and you can drag it and drop to bookmarks. But if you open more tabs, the icons turn into X when mouse-overed and you can not drag it - just click and close the tab. It makes sense when you want to close couple of tabs quickly, but for adding the url to bookmarks you now have to go through a lot of clicking instead (click the (...) button, select folder, confirm...) Draging was way more natural and easy, Is there any way of restoring this functionality ??

Bookmarks no longer "drag" I just upgraded to Safari 16.0 and now my bookmarks are messed up. I can no longer drag a bookmark from one folder to another and cannot drag a folder to another location. Anyone have a workaround?

Safari browser bookmarks side menu collapses instead of staying open plus... Most recent OS / Safari update changed Bookmarks side menu to where one must open up Bookmarks in the side menu each time. When the side menu closes the bookmarks close and must be reopened each time. 1) Really? 2) Why on earth? 3) Work around or solution to keeping all bookmarks displayed when side bar menu is opened?? In addition when I need to drag a new bookmark into the bookmarks side menu I CANNOT because I can drag the new url to the left side and it will open up the menu but hovering over Bookmarks will not open up Bookmarks items so I CANNOT drop what I was dragging to where I want it located. GET IT?? ADVICE: Apple, you are failing me. This isn't the first time you make a change in something where instead of making your change a choice where one might prefer not to allow Bookmarks to collapse into their parent folder (for instance) you force the new feature on us with no choice. Just like my local ISP has subtly given up offering email suggesting I should just stick with a gmail account (for instance) I wonder if Apple would rather I give up Safari and Mail local clients all together and/or use Google clients? END of Advice... 😡

Go to tab > address bar, on right, more options (3 dots in circle) > Bookmark > folder.
