Apple built-in note app will not open

I'm using Mac Book Pro, Monterey and the Note App will not open. About a week ago I had to force it to close because it was hanging. Any suggestions to fix it?

Notes isn't working I see that others are having the same issue - my Notes app has become unusable: endless timer, locks up, won't scroll. Like others, I have hand-written items in there. Seems odd to offer the option to write in it if it's not robust enough to manage the files. This is using Notes on my Mac Laptop. Help?

Note App When I first got my Mac the Note App worked and now it will not open. Has anyone else experienced this? And what did you do to make it work?

Notes app has become agonising slow and all but unusable I have a MacBook Pro with an M1 Max chip and Ventura 13.1. in the last week or so the Notes App has become incredibly slow... often 3-4 seconds lag between typing and seeing the results on the screen... sometimes even longer and have to force quit. To my knowledge nothing else had changed on my machine. ... While writing this I checked for updates, and so I updated now to Ventura 13.2... . Immediately after restarting I tried Notes and it worked great... for about one minute and then slooooweeeeddddd down again. In searching this forum I found a number of similar questions but they are old and apply to MacOS 10.x so I thought I'd ask for any advice again

Try logging onto your iCloud account via the web at iCloud.com and see if you are able to access Notes from the web.

Also, try a shutdown and restart your Mac if you have not done so yet.
