MacBook Pro water damage: it won’t turn on

Hey everyone.

On Wednesday I accidentally spilled water on my MacBook Pro 16.

My Mac turned off, I cleaned it with some tissues and immediately got home.

When I got home, I let my MacBook air dry and I turned it upside down to encourage liquid to drip out of the keyboard and the ports.

I turned it on after 24 hours, but it immediately turned off, it detected water or something wrong.

I let it rest and didn’t touch it. On Saturday morning I tried to switch it on but it immediately shut down.

What should I do now ? Has anyone else experienced something similar?

I am going to take it to the Apple store but I wanted to see if somebody has had some experience and could give me some advice.

Sure do that. Then go to your favorite Apple store or Best Buy store and buy a new computer. You have even more chance of destroying your already damaged computer. So this could ensure you totally destroy it.

Hi,

Also you should notice that liquid damage is not covered by warranty even if you have AppleCare+.

Liquid damage is often extensive and ongoing due to corrosion. Your computer needs to be examined by an authorized service center. The repair will be expensive. Start looking for a new computer.

thanks for the feedback. I got a kit in order to try and open the Mac and take the battery out. I could try and take it out, dry it and dry all the internal part. Do you think that would help or is it just useless ?

Liquid and electrons are not friends. No two devices will suffer the same fate once subjected to liquid intrusion. You're doing all you can do, which is to take it Apple for evaluation and options.
