Screen orientation on iPad Air (5th generation)

How to lock screen orientation. User guide says Open Control Center, then tap .

unfortunately that icon does not exist.

The rotation lock icon within the iPad Control Centre cannot be suppressed. Assuming that you do not have a very old iPad that includes a physical side-switch, if you cannot see the rotation lock icon, a forced restart of your iPad may be helpful:


  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On other iPad models: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.




To access the Control Centre, swipe downwards from the top-right corner of the screen:
