iMessage group chat

My dad gave me his old phone since he now has a new one and i have a problem on iMessage. On group chats, my name does not show or show other people in the group chat's name. It only shows phone numbers. Back when my dad was using it there were no problems. Not only in group chats but also on other chats too. I have already edited my display name, my iCloud settings, turned iMessage off and on but it still doesn't work.

Hey there,

Understand that you’re having trouble with iMessage where you don’t see contact names,There are some things you have to do that can solve this problem.

first:

Look at your iCloud Contacts app

iCloud helps you organize and sync contacts between all types of devices, as long as they use the same Apple ID. So when you add or update a contact, iCloud makes that same change on all your devices–no need to manually update.

When you enable iCloud Contacts, all of the contact information stored on each device uploads to iCloud and syncs. So it may be that your contacts are not syncing between your devices and therefore are not updating the contact card with the name and other relevant information.

Follow these steps until you sync iCloud contacts on your iPhone:

Go to Settings > tap on your name > iCloud > contact - turn on When asked to Merge or Cancel, tap Merge. If already on, try toggling it off and choose cancel to force a sync.

second :

Check Your Contact App Settings!

Go to Settings > Contacts > short name and toggle ON/OFF the Shortname and Prefer Nickname features in contacts. Then go back to your Message App and see if it’s now working normally.

if that doesn’t work try Restart your iPhone and Check if the problem is gone.
