Why do I still see emails from Blocked Contacts in Mail

I've blocked contacts in my Mail program and still get emails. The 'new' emails even show they are from a 'blocked sender'. Is there a rule I need to set to not see any future emails from a blocked sender?

What does 'Block Contact mean in Apple Mail and how is it done? I have 'blocked Contacts' in Gmail/Junk Mail on my Apple Mail account on both my iMac, MacOS Big Sur and my iPadOS 14,8, but, I still receive emails from those senders. The new mail states that mail is from a a blocked Sender. Is there something else I need to do or is there an Apple doc which will guide me through the process to stop the crap that comes through Gmail?

I have my settings exactly like this, but am still getting the emails in my inbox. It's frustrating. I've restarted my computer as well.

Any other options?
