Mic stops working after lid closed and reopened

I have a less-than-a-week old M1 MacBook Air and whenever I close the lid for over 10 seconds (put it to sleep essentially) the microphone stops working. I have to then restart the computer entirely for the microphone to work. I spent an hour on the phone with apple support but nothing (and they just hung up on me).

Is this a known issue? No solution?

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We see that macOS 12.3 is installed. Since the latest version is macOS 12.3.1, we recommend updating to it: Update macOS on Mac.

Also, we recommend checking to see if "Prevent your Mac from automatically sleeping when the display is off" by checking Apple menu > System Preferences > Energy.
