Connector cable for my Macbook to a projector

At a conference recently, the hotel staff found a "thunder to adaptor" cable that would allow my Macbook to connect to the projector for the presentation. He also said something about HDMI? Any thoughts on what I need to add to my laptop bag? Thanks!

You'll need a TB 2 or Mini Display to HDMI cable or adapter, assuming the Projector has HDMI. For example: Link-> Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Cable, iVANKY Mini DP (Thunderbolt) to HDMI Cable - Amazon.com

If it has say DVI or Via, then a Mini Display to DVI or Via adapter is necessary. Link-> Mini DisplayPort to DVI, Benfei Gold-Plated Mini DP to DVI

Or an adapter with more than one output type: UGREEN Mini DisplayPort to HDMI DVI VGA Adapter 4K Mini DP Converter Thunderbolt Compatible 3 in 1 for Mac - Amazon.com

The cable you would need is kind of dependent on your model of MacBook and its available ports, and the projector and its available ports.

The most common cable type is yes HDMI. If your MacBook has an HDMI port, then you can use a straight HDMI cable. Otherwise you would need an adapter yes.

I'm guessing the hotel staff said "Thunderbolt" cable. There are currently 4 types of Thunderbolt. Known as Thunderbolt 1 though 4.

Tell us the Model / Year and specific type of MacBook (regular, Air or Pro) you have so we can tell you what you need exactly.
