Can’t download long podcasts

When I use the podcast app, I can download and play podcasts just fine. But when I try to download a podcast thats pretty long (3+ hours) it just stays stuck with the spinning circle as if it’s about to start downloading but it never does. It will even show the episode in the downloading section of my downloads page.

I’ve left my phone sitting like this with the app open for about 20 minutes just to see if it will ever start and it never does. I can’t download a long podcast with or without wifi.

Does anyone else have problems downloading long podcasts? Is there any fix or method that makes it possible to download large podcast files?
