I am experancing save problems with illustrator which I have just updated that I never had before

so has the new adobe illustrator updates caused a 'save' issue? I now don't have privileges to save to my drive just to desktop or downloads...........

In System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy panel, have you added Illustrator to the Full Disk Access list of applications? Also check in the Files and Folders section there, to see if Illustrator is listed, but needs to be selected for that access privilege.

Where are you trying to save? At the top level of the drive? You CAN'T. Not with Illustrator or anything else.

The system drive is mounted read-only.

Not that putting your files there was a good idea, anyway.


If you are trying to save elsewhere, like in an external drive:

recent versions of macOS have more security restrictions. You may have to specifically grant permissions to the application to access some locations.
