How to stop desktop/screen from switching?

How to stop desktop from switching? I am not talking about desktop photos! What am I doing to cause this while I am working? So hard to get it back!

Tried this but it is already unchecked:

System preferences > Mission Control > uncheck box "Automatically rearrange Spaces based on most recent use"

iMac 24″, macOS 12.3

Then what is switching? Please give as many details as possible. We are not Apple and can neither see nor touch yur computer. Therefore we must rely for you for all details. With proper details and descriptions, we can provide more specific options for troubleshooting.

You can use this icon in the forum toolbar"

To post image from a phone or screenshots if needed.

Also PLEASE....tell us which iMac sub-model. They have been in continuous production since 1998 in five broad families and maybe 1000 variants. As we are really lousy at guessing, it behooves you to help us help you as best we can in this text-based environment. Thanks

If you do not want that behaviour, go to Apple > System Preferences > Mission Control and uncheck all of the boxes in the top half of the preferences panel.

If you want to use Mission Control Spaces, you can see and/or adjust those shortcuts in the bottom half of the panel.

Note that I do not care for or use Mission Control Spaces, so I have everything in the top half unchecked and all of the shortcuts in the bottom half disabled.

This may well be a stretch, but your description of the problem as "rotate to a new desktop" sounds suspiciously like the Fast User Switching feature to me.

Switch quickly between users on Mac - Apple Support

When the rotate happens, what do you do to get back to where you were?

Do you have multiple user accounts setup on the Mac? Do all the accounts require a password to login to the computer?

Usually, you have to click the user name in the upper right corner of the screen and then select another user account to switch to, and I know no keystroke shortcut that would trigger the switch.

Like I said, it's a stretch.

Follow up -

If you do have Fast User Switching active, and have the Users & Groups > Login Option > "Show fast user switching menu as" set to "Icon", then you wouldn't know what user account you were using unless you consciously click the user icon at the top right corner of the screen. If that option is set to "Full Name" or "Account Name", then a glance at the corner will tell you which account you are currently using.

I don't know how to duplicate the problem, it just happens randomly, so I am not sure what I am supposed to insert? My desktop will suddenly revolve... I don't know how else to describe but it will rotate to a new desktop all of a sudden and I can't find where I was! Now I just learned about mission control so I should be able to find it if this happens again but I want to know what am I doing to cause this? I have the latest 24" imac, 12.3.1
