Travelling overseas.

Do I need to buy another SIM card for my iPhone 12 before travelling to Europe or can I just take my phone and can I FaceTime with a new SIM card? When I went to china I didn’t have another SIM card.

iPhone 12, iOS 15

When you are traveling abroad, you may:

  1. Use the same SIM card that you have now and that means using the current carrier overseas. This will allow you to keep your current phone number abroad as well. The downside to this is that your carrier will probably charge extra fees for calls and data and this can get very expensive.
  2. OR, you can go abroad and then purchase new service and SIM card that will work locally. You will have a new phone number while you are abroad however your data and calls service will be much cheaper.
