Brand new watch - charged and won’t turn on

I just got my watch out of the box and charged it immediately. I paired it while it was on the charger and then left it to charge. I came back about 45 minutes later and it’s a black screen and won’t turn on. My phone shows it has about 75% charge. I have tried the hard reset and it does nothing. It’s been like this for about 2 hours now. I put it back on the charger and it made the charging sound and my phone showed it was charging but still nothing. Should I just take it back?

The first (and simplest) thing to try if something isn’t working right is to restart your Apple Watch and its paired iPhone. If necessary (device not responding), try a forced restart. Both methods can be found here:

If that doesn't help, the next steps would be to unpair and pair your watch again and restore from the backup just created. This should result in no loss of data. It deletes all temp and corrupted files and re-indexes the file system.

Unpair and erase your Apple Watch - Apple Support

If none of the above helps, then I would take it back.
