Time machine backup
I'm trying to backup my MacBook Air with time machine but the only option for a backup disk location is Other AirPort Time Capsule . Shouldn't I be able to select the hard drive?

Hi DTWGBW,
Time Machine works by copying the files, apps, and other data on your Mac to an external location. This can be an external drive, or a shared network drive.
I'd personally recommend using an external drive as it is the easiest to set up.
If you already have an external drive, and System Preferences doesn't allow you to use it, let me know and I can help :)
Hi,
No, because then when your internal hard drive dies, there would be no backup. Either use the Time Capsule or get a different external drive.
