my apple watch does not light up when I raise my wrist

My watch face does not light up when I raise my wrist. Watch is 2 years old. I have it configured in settings

I cannot get my watch face to light when shaking or raising my wrist. The solutioin is said to be to go to general and click on "Watch lights up when raising wrist" -- but I have no such commnand under general on either mty watch or phone ap. I cannot get my Apple watch to light when raising my wrist. The solution is said to be to go to General and tap on "Watch lights up when wrist is raised"--or something like that. But I get no such command under General on my watch or phone ap. Solution?

Is theatre mode turned on? To check this, see if you see are orange mask icon on top of your watch

To disable this: swipe up to the control center and tick the mask icon
