error -536870181 and weird problem with optical flow on M1 Ultra

Hi, I'm now using Mac Studio with M1 Ultra

And I got many problems on FCP latest version (10.6.2)

  1. When I exported it got the error -536870181. I try to contact support with an Apple on call. But he can't help me much, I still don't know what causes it. When I try to find which cut it's the normal clip without anything. But maybe it links to my 2nd problem.
  2. Optical flow got weird behavior. When I somehow manage to render the whole project out. The clip with optical flow got weird jerky (it's like bad frame ordering, it's skipping back and forth). And what's weirder is the thing after that clip is jerky too, so I can't use any of my export files that comes out of FINAL CUT (I also try to render with Compressor and got the same jerky APPLE PRORES video too)

I'm no way out now.. I don't know how to deal with these. I already cleared the cache, cleared the render cache, move to another library, and re-install FCP. One thing I didn't try is to go back to my old Mac Pro and render it.

Thank you so much

I’m also having significant problems working with ProRes on the Ultra.

  • Export times from Apple Motion have become interminable—for instance, 3 hour to export a 30 min 1080p file.
  • After spending ridiculous amounts of time exporting, the file simply disappears when the export is finished. No trace of it anywhere.
  • Exporting to H264 works, but more often than not the audio is out of sync.

I think this began with the recent OS update. I’ve found some bug reports on the Apple Dev forums relating to ProRes.

The entire impetus to purchase the Studio Ultra (with its high price tag) for my video work was to be able to get more work done. Now I’d be better off with the old Intel machine I traded in. 😤

The first thing whenever the application is misbehaving is to delete the preferences.

To delete preferences, hold down command and option while starting FCP X and click Delete Preferences. The application will start in a default state, and open an “Untitled” library.

Reopen the library you were working on, set the preferences the way you like them, and try again.

Also, delete all render files.

If the problem persists, there could be some bad media of a subtle corruption in the project? Do other projects export?

You could copy everything, make a new project, paste. Does the new project work?

Thank you for your reply. I have already tried moving all sync clips and projects to the new library and the error is still there. It's got errors when rendering around 88%-90% of my project (same error code)

Maybe I have to try to render on my old Mac Pro to see if there's the same issue.

It looks to me like your problem may be a different one than the OP’s, so you should start your own thread and include a full Etrecheck report. Problems when upgrading the OS or moving to a new mac - especially one with a different architecture - are more often than not due to old stuff migrated. The Etrecheck report often gives us a good idea of what may be the likely cause.

Let me update.

I think there is something weird about Prores encoder too.

I just reinstall everything (including OSX) and I begin to edit new project. Yesterday when I exported file out, there is a lot of jerky frame happened on my video file. I want to post video for example, but my work is confidential. I will shoot my own footage and do an example video on my problem.

Thank you.
