Not seeing Apple ID option for a User, in Advanced Settings

Hello! I'm hoping someone can help. I can't find an answer anywhere!

I'm trying to share files from my Mac Studio to my MacBook Pro. I've set up sharing on the Mac Studio, and I'm able to connect from the MacBook Pro using the Registered User (with password) option.

My problem showed up when trying to get it to automatically connect, without the need to "connect as..." each time (it's in the keychain, so it seems like it should be automatic—but isn't).

So... I try using the Using an Apple ID option to connect, but it fails. I found in Apple Support that in order to work, I have to be set up in Users & Groups preferences with this Apple ID, on both machines.

And here's the problem. Looking into it I find that on the Mac Studio, in Users & Groups, under advanced settings for my user, there is no Apple ID option listed. It's just not there and there's not option to add it, as I've seen in some articles. (Both my MacBooks have an Apple ID for my user. And all machines are using the same MacOS, version 12.3.1)

Does anyone know how I might bind an Apple ID into the User advanced settings? I think this would allow that third login option to work, and might facilitate auto login when selecting the Mac Studio location.

I've tried several things – turning off File Vault, creating a fresh admin user, even erasing everything and starting over – but no luck yet. Maybe someone knows...

Here's from that support article:

Thanks for looking at my question!

Yes, in Preferences > Apple ID, I see that I'm signed in. And in Preferences > Internet Accounts, I see iCloud active and logged in.

Here's an image I found in Apple Support that illustrates what I'm talking about. You can see that there's an Apple ID option (in this example it's blank and has a button for setting it).

On my MacBooks, I see this field, and they're designated to my Apple ID. They were already set—I didn't set them in this dialog. On the Mac Studio, there is no field listed for Apple ID at all. I have a feeling that's what the instructions above were talking about.
