Live listen with wired earbuds?
It’s been over a year and a half since this question was posed. Will live listen now work with wired buds. My aged father finds connection with the air pods difficult and unreliable at just the wrong times.

Actually according to the site, you can an external microphone:
To use Live Listen with an external wired microphone, connect the microphone to the Lightning port or headphone jack on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

I don't think this covers using a wired headset.
I believe it requires Bluetooth headphones.
As this is a user to user support forum, we have no access to anything you don't.
You can try a set of wired headphones to see.
