Live Listen with iPad and Airpods Pro

I can't use Live Listen with my Airpods Pro and iPad. In Control Center, I can see that my Airpods are connected, but "Live Listen" is grayed out. A message says "Connect a compatible audio device to use Live Listen". I just want to amplify my surroundings.
