Are you getting an alert or is it just not working? If you are getting the alert Go to the link TheLittles nicely posted and try the steps there and if they don't work skip to the last step and contact Apple Support. If you aren't getting the alert go to the other appropriate link TheLittles are helping you with, the one that starts with, "If Face ID isn't working....", try the steps in that article and again if they don't work go to the last step and contact Apple Support. DO NOT click on or use the last three links about iMessage or FaceTime, you will just waste your time, you could cause yourself some additional grief and they won't help you, they are not relevant to this issue.
