Trying to free up space on my laptop, checked System Information and it said that I have 97GB of apps, but the Applications folder in Finder only has ~22GB and the list itself in System Information adds up to about the same (~22GB). I've tried reindexing my disk via Spotlight several times but to no effect. Any other tips? Running 12.3 Monterey. Edit: It's a 2018 13" MBP with Touchbar, if that changes anything.
That storage display shows all of the data and settings/configuration files associated with apps, not just the app itself.

This category primarily includes files and data used by the system, such as log files, caches, VM files, and other runtime system resources. Also included are temporary files, fonts, app support files, and plug-ins. You can't manage the contents of this category. The contents are managed by macOS, and the category varies in size depending on the current state of your Mac.
Generally I do not suggest Uninstaller but in the case,
AppDelete try or paid application.
Just be very very certain of what you are doing.
Some Application like MS Office Applications and some Adobe Applications need everything intact or they will not function.
Your data would be wherever you’ve chosen to store it.
Applications should use the Application Support folder in your Library directories. However, that doesn’t always happen.
Also, since it is a Spotlight search, it may include other data that has been associated with the app. I don’t know how the search is formulated, though.
is there a way to see which apps have associated files, then? because adding up the totals from every app in that list doesn't sum to the category total, either.
yeah... it's not part of other/system though, it's part of applications directly. omnidisksweeper is helping me get rid of some of the files at least, so thank you anyways :)
