How do I find out which folder an app is in in iOS 13

I search and find the app, but I want to move it and don't know where it is. Messages this time. Setting up a new iPhone

My response below is based on iOS version 15.5. I know that you are running iOS version 13 and I am not sure whether you will have the same results as mine. I also recommend that you update to iOS 15.5

Get to the Search Bar by swiping down from the middle of any Home Screen. Type in the app's name in the search bar. The results will be displayed with that app and the folder that it is in to the right. NOTE: If the app is not in any folder then you will not see the folder's name. See example image below:

Oops, of course if I'm really on an iPhone 13 which I am, I'm not running iOS 13. I am running 15.5 and it works as you say. Guess I should put in a request to show which screen the app is on.


I think Messages must have been in the bottom row and visually mixed it up with Phone or something. My excuse is that I'm going through the setting up of a new phone from scratch. I had problems with my old one and didn't want to risk restoring from backup. Not as bad as I'd thought it would be. But then I had practice trying to fix the old phone. The biggest time saver is finding Purchased apps in Apps.
