My daughter's iPhone X kept getting a group Facetime call with 16-18 participants last night.
Sensibly she did not answer though I was tempted to.
Potentially just a wrong number entered in a legitimate group chat, but who knows?
Despite blocking all callers from these calls there were still 2 presumably active calls at the top with a Join icon - I could see no way to block these and only just avoided 'joining' accidentally.

When you block someone's number on your iPhone, that number can't call, text, or FaceTime you. The blocked number can still leave you voicemails.
If you have all the numbers blocked from the FaceTime group then you would not receive the FaceTime call from that group.

That's right. You would still receive the call if you have not blocked the initiator's contact.

When someone is added to a Group FaceTime call, they can't be removed from the call. The person who was added to the call needs to end the Group FaceTime call.

Seems strange that you can't reject all numbers in a group chat in one go and have to do it manually too as errors entering numbers probably happens frequently.
Can you remove unknown group FaceTime invites?
