there need to be a way to clear or remove the recent tab in files on the ipad even on external drive you can see an image from months ago every other platform lets you control this. this is why i went back to android

You can change the view in the Files app > Recents tab on the iPad. Tap on the four squares on the top right, then select how you'd like to filter the results.
