after update to 12.4 the password field remains desabled, no character can be entered. Keyboard change, PR-refresh and secure start didn‘t help. Without ability to enter password, the mac cannot be used at all. Any ideas pls???

Please shut down the computer and then try restarting by holding down the power button for about 15-20 seconds and see if there is any change. If there is not, then it's is time to give AppleCare a phone call. If you happen to be in the USA that number is (800) 275-2273. If you are not in the USA then please click AppleCare contact Information to find the number in your area.

Please attempt to restart in Safe Mode. 12.4 is very stable so there may be an issue with your machine.

Please restart the computer in Safe Mode per the directions in the  How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support link.

Note: If you are using a wireless keyboard please either plug it in using the supplied Lightning cable that shipped with it. If you are using a legacy keyboard or a third-party keyboard that does not have re-charging abilities, please use any USB keyboard. Also note that a Safe Mode restart may require you to hold down the shift key for up to 5 minutes before the computer starts in Safe Mode. You will know it is in Safe Mode when you see “Safe Mode” in the upper right of the display.

Next, please restart normally and please retest.
