LG 4k display dim after waking from sleep - M1 iMac Monterey

I recently bought a 2021 M1 iMac 24" along with an LG UltraFine 24" 4k display. Despite confirming that "automatically adjust brightness" is unchecked for both displays, when my computer wakes up the LG is noticeably dim. When I go into the Displays settings the slider shows the monitor is at 100% brightness, yet when I lower the slider slightly and back to 100% the display then reverts to its max brightness.

Could it be a refresh rate issue? Bug with Monterey?

This is a common issue with the LG displays. I have the KG 5k and same issue. The only fix is to turn off sleep and only turn off monitor after a specified time or just use screen saver or use both.
