A few steps to take:

• From your companion iPhone, launch the Watch app and navigate to My Watch tab > Clock and be sure Push Alerts from iPhone is enabled. 
• Restart both devices:

-- Restart your iPhone

-- Restart your Apple Watch

• Check Control Center be sure your watch isn’t set to Do Not Disturb, a Focus, or Theater mode. Use Control Center on your Apple Watch
