No audio on Memoji sent in Messages

I initially got a message that audio is in use by another app when recording a Memoji in Messages. I turned off all apps and relaunched Messages and tried to do it again. No message about audio being in use elsewhere, but the received Memoji message was silent with a no sound marker beside it. (speaker with a diagonal cross bar) Am I doing this correctly? Do I have to do more than stop and start on the button and then send near the Memoji? Have not found a relevant setting for the microphone.

Hello perseus06,

Thanks for that info and for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If we understand correctly, you are unable to use the Memoji feature in the Messages app on your iPad, as you get a message the audio is being used by another app. If you haven't already, please force close the Messages app, restart your iPad and make sure it is fully up to date: If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open - Apple Support

Another step is make sure your microphone settings are correct in Settings > Privacy > Microphone and here is more info: Control access to hardware features on iPhone - Apple Support

I am an idiot. Sorry. Did not understand the sequence of steps in sending the Memoji with audio and that it has to be clicked on to deliver the sound. You are exactly right.
