File sharing checkbox won't check "on"

Went to System Preferences -> File Sharing and click on the checkbox, but it won't check meaning the file sharing won't turn on. Anyone encounter this and find a solution? (on a 2012 Mac Mini)

TIA

Workaround for File Sharing:

sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.smbd.plist

Workaround for Remote Login:

sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ssh.plist

Same here. Started happening immediately after installing Security Update 2022-004 (and Safari update).

Looks like something in Security Update 2022-004 prevents "File Sharing" from being checked OR unchecked.

If you had File Sharing enabled before the update, it is now stuck on. And vice versa.

Looking at Console when I try to check "File Sharing" checkbox in System Preferences, Sharing pane I see:

### TCC Denied for setNSCProtocolEnabled for (

    smb

) state 1

Same here. Also 2012 model (Mac Pro). Unfortunately I can’t find a workaround… guess we wait for an update 😫

Extra moan: I am using this old MacBook as a home-office server (attached to a RAID and Ethernet) so it’s kind of essential to my work. The idea was to use my 2016 Mac Pro but I’m having to use that as my actual workstation as my new Mac PRO (ordered in February) has been delayed by FOURTEEN WEEKS.

I really think Apple’s days are numbered, as far as small business and design / video production is concerned.
