This is a common problem that occurs with 2017 or lower MacBooks (Especially MacBook Air) when upgrading from Mac OS X Catalina to macOS Big Sur (macOS 11) or macOS Monterey (macOS 12). The hardware (especially RAM) might be messed up. I recommend this link:

If the solutions do not work, you might have to bring your MacBook Pro to an Apple Store and let one of the Geniuses figure it out. Usually you will have to reset your MacBook if no applicable solutions work, but that is pretty rare.

An aside , most issues upgrading are Self Inflected issues IMHO.

That excludes hardware failures.
