Scan using Canon Pixma MX897

I can AirPrint from my MacBook to the Canon Pixma MX897 BUT the scan option no longer exists. Why not? I am unable to find a suitable answer online. Why has Apple removed the scan function from the Canon MX897?

Deleting and re installing the printer does NOT work. It seems Apple have decided that the scan function is no longer supported - WHY?

Extremely frustrating.

Hi,


The Canon MX897 is listed in About AirPrint - Apple Support as a model supporting the driverless AirPrint technology. This means that the printer can be used without additional drivers, provided that it and the computer are connected to the same network (Wi-Fi router).


Regarding scanning, see also the following AirPrint guide (for similar European models, such as the MX895):

Has this been working as described in the article with your printer, computer, AirPrint, and a previous operating system version? Which exact Mac operating system version are you using now?


You may want to verify that the latest printer firmware is installed.
