Hi pixel1651,

It sounds like your entire music library is syncing when you connect your iPhone. You can disable this feature in iTunes when you select Music from the sidebar in iTunes.

Open iTunes and connect your device to your computer with a USB cable.
Click the device icon in the upper-left corner of the iTunes window. Learn what to do if you don't see the icon
From the list under Settings on the left side of the iTunes window, click the type of content that you want to sync or remove.* To turn syncing on for a content type, select the checkbox next to Sync.
The checkbox next to Sync Music in iTunes.

Choose the box next to Entire Music Library as mentioned in Use iTunes to sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod with your computer

Regards.

pixel1651,

Let's use the steps below to make sure that iTunes is all up to date:

If you downloaded iTunes from the Microsoft Store

Versions of iTunes from the Microsoft Store update automatically when new versions are released.
You can also check for updates through the Microsoft Store.

If you downloaded iTunes from Apple's website

1. Open iTunes.
2. From the menu bar at the top of the iTunes window, choose Help > Check for Updates.
3. Follow the prompts to install the latest version.

If Check for Updates isn't an option in the Help menu, then you downloaded iTunes from the Microsoft Store.

You can also find those steps in this resource: Update to the latest version of iTunes - Apple Support

Additionally, you can use this resource to make sure that your iPhone is also up to date: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Should that behavior still persist, you'll want to reach out to Apple Support so they can look into this further: Contact - Official Apple Support

Take care.

I have my iPhone set to automatically sync to iTunes every time I plug my phone in to my desktop. I want that so my phone is backed up to my computer each time. I have well over 60,000 songs that are downloaded from my music library into my iPhone from iTunes. I'm saying that each time I sync the same 3524 songs from my music library are re-downloaded on to my iPhone each time even though I haven't made any changes to these songs in iTunes. Since those 3524 songs are already in my iPhone why are they re-downloaded each time I sync? Why aren't all my songs (over 60,000) re-downloaded too? What makes those 3524 songs in particular so different from the others?
