Why can't I see a mac's shared external drive?

I have an external drive shared for everyone to be able to read from, but I can't see it from my other mac on the network. I can see the that mac from my other mac on the network.

Mac mini, macOS 10.15

Sharing Files between Mac Mini M2 and iMac (2015) I'm making my primary computer a Mac Mini M2. It's replacing a 2015 iMac. Using the wireless network in my home... 1) Can I keep the iMac 'on' and logged in to my local wireless network in order to access iMac files, folders, apps from the Mac Mini? 2) Can I put a iMac on a timer, let's say 8AM-11PM daily, when I could access files/folders when working on the Mini? 3) From the Mac Mini how would I identify folders/files on iMac? Thanks in advance for guidance.
