Touch ID not working when connected to external monitor

Whenever I connect 4K LG monitor to USB-C, the touch ID in my 16" 2019 Macbook Pro stops working. I used to connect my Macbook to an old non-4K through HDMI, the touch ID was working fine.

This problem is very annoying because I use software like 1Password to store my passwords and touchID not working is causing major productivity issues as I have to type 1Password password multiple times a day.

Several users have complained about this in other threads but no resolution. Hoping to restart the thread and see if I get a different response.

If Touch ID isn't working on your Mac - Apple Support

On your Intel Mac can try both

—Try resetting the SMC How to reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support

—Try resetting NVRAM/PRAM Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

(get at least two-three rounds of the chimes when holding the NRAM Reset)

this may require you set up your finger again

Use Touch ID on Mac - Apple Support

see if there is anything here—

if no insight or resolve you can submit your Apple Feedback/file a bug report: Product Feedback - Apple

  1. I tried all of this: SMC & NVRAM/PRAM reset.
  2. Also I tried reinstalling the MacOS.
  3. Replaced the USB-C cable with USB-C to HDMI cable and connected to the same monitor.
  4. Ran hardware diagnostic
  5. With monitor connected, I cannot even set up the finger again. As the sensor is not working at all. I did reset my finger ID after removing the monitor.

All of the above did not result in a fix. As you can see I have tried almost everything that I found on internet. Alas. No resolution. :(
