The document "X" could not be opened by Bean.

I have created a document on my desktop (Mac) in numbers, and placed it in my Google Drive. When I try to access the file on my laptop from home, I get the message that "the file cannot be opened by Bean. Bean cannot o[en documents of this type or there is a problem with the document." I do not have Bean, have never heard about it. What to do?

Open your Google Drive files folder in a Finder window, and locate the file.

Press and hold the command key and click on the filename.

Using the control key will cause your Mac to open a list of possible applications with which to open the file. Pick Numbers, or if more than one Numbers version is listed, pick the version you are currently using.

If Numbers is not listed, the issue may be that the .numbers file extension is not attached to the file name.

Take note of the file extension applied to the name, replace it with .numbers and try again to open it with Numbers.

If not successful, replace the existing extension

Bean is a word processing application, and uses .BEAN as the file extension on its files.

The actual message you are getting seems odd if there is not a copy of Bean in your Mac's Applications folder.

Can you open the file on your desktop Mac? If so, what application is able to open it there?

Regards,

Barry
