How do you quit Migration Assistant on both Mac computers?

How do you quit Migration Assistant on both Mac computers (old laptop is a MacBook Pro...new laptop is a MacBook Air). After migrating all my files over to my new MacBook Air...I wanted to delete most of my original files on my old MacBook Pro. When I went to delete these old files (I'm giving my old MacBook Pro for my Assistant to use), these files were also being deleted on my new MacBook Air. Kind of defeats the purpose of the migration if they get automatically deleted on the new laptop when I go to take the files off the old laptop.

I read that you need to turn off the Migration Assistant on both laptops, but I can't figure out how to do this? The menu screens appear to want me to start another migration. Any assistance would be appreciated! Thank you!

Hi 12vltman,

Verify on both of the Macs that your Desktop and Documents folders aren't being synced. To check this, go to System Preferences -> Apple ID -> iCloud -> iCloud Drive Options, and ensure that Desktop and Documents folders is NOT checked.

If that checkbox is cleared on both Macs, and the issue still persists, please let me know.
