My MacBook Air says “your disk is almost full”; I have purchased a SA disk portable SSD but do not know where to begin even though I have googled how to format, etc.

my MacBook Air is saying (your disk is almost full”. I have purchased an extreme Portable SSD Sandisk. However even though I have read the google “guidance” I hesitate to begin because I do not even know which port to use. Looking for a place (Apple store?) or place that can show me in person how to do it.

Thank you.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.6
