how to stop automatic playing of next episode

No matter what I do, including turning off Carplay, continuous play and anything else I can find, AUTOPLAY of my podcasts start without the app even being ON as soon as I get in the car. The app is NOT OPEN and yet it still plays the second I use the cable or bluetooth. Cannot find ANY HELP.

CarPlay and podcasts are unrelated to the Apple TV app. Better ask your question in the best fitting subforum, for more expertise.

My take on it is:

• Go to Control Center’s player widget and pause the content when it starts playing.
• Or: disable CarPlay in Settings﹥Screen Time﹥Content & Privacy Restrictions﹥Allowed Apps﹥CarPlay﹥Off.

When the overlay pop-up comes on, you can click Menu or Back (or equivalent) on your remote to dismiss the overlay, stop autoplay for this session, (and resume the end credits).
