How to disable audio player in Apple News?

I read my news - not listen to it. How can I remove the "Listen Now" section?

It's super annoying to have my phone suddenly start talking randomly And then stopping an article is a whole other process. I just want read.

Hi KR-CA,

If you have automatic downloads for audio stories enabled, disable it by navigating to Settings > News, then turn off Download Audio. You can also check and ensure your Up Next queue is cleared with the help of the guide here: Listen to audio stories on iPhone

There's also steps for returning back reading from the mini player here: Listen to the news in the Apple News app

However, there's not a way to completely remove the 'Audio' tab from the Apple News app.

You can leave feedback here: Product Feedback

Best.
