Is it common for the battery in an iPad to only last two years?

Does anyone else have an iPad with the battery died after only two years of use?

Usable battery life can be influenced by many factors, such as the cumulative number of full recharge cycles, the temperature at which the battery is recharged, exposure to high temperatures outside of the normal operating or storage ranges, the battery being left fully discharged for any period of time, etc.

A properly maintained iPad battery should retain 80% of its original battery capacity when new, after 1000 full battery recharge cycles.

While unusual, even if optimally maintained, batteries can fail earlier than expected.
